OUR ENVIRONMENT
If it wasn't mentioned before you'll know why immediately when we say
Cushing Field is a real "Grass-Roots" aviation kind of airport! Cushing
Field has a mix of aircraft operations. Traffic types are as follows:
Sail-Planes/Gliders, Part
103Ultralight, LSA Light Sport Aircraft (Trike and Airplane) , Non-LSA GA (>1320lbs.) . One can expect to see
pretty much any kind of small aircraft around Cushing. The grass strip
runway is one of the smoothest around. Practicing take-offs and landings on
grass surfaces is just as smooth and less stressful on landing gear than a
hard surface would be such as asphalt. As a student you should be reminded
that speed is retarded a bit quicker on the landing roll-outs too. In
other words there is more friction on the surface as opposed to asphalt.
Please check below to see other useful tips about our environment.
